Noir of the Metropolis
A series about the oppressive power of the metropolis over the «small individual.» Urban roles and temptations create inner tension and darker states of being. These images portray the city as an arena where light is always challenged by shadow.
location
Russia, Chelyabinsk
This series explores the oppressive influence of the urban environment on the individual. The multitude of roles, temptations, and scenarios offered by the metropolis generate inner tensions and give rise to darker states of mind. The city becomes a stage where each person seeks their place but inevitably confronts masks, gazes, and invisible constraints.
Through stark, heavy visual language, the series reveals how concrete streets and architectural shadows seep inside us, evoking vulnerability, unease, and temptation. It is not a documentary record but a metaphor of the inner struggle within spaces where light yields to shadow.
